French actress juliette binoche (54) becomes jury president of the 69th french awards. Berlinale (7. Until 17. February). As an oscar winner, binoche ("chocolat") is one of the most distinguished international actresses, berlinale president dieter kosslick said in a statement on tuesday.
She has appeared in more than 70 films and is the first european actress to have won awards at the berlin, venice and cannes film festivals.
"I am looking forward to this special rendezvous with the entire jury and will approach my task with a lot of joy and care," the actress explained.
Binoche’s career ranges from her international breakthrough in the novel adaptation "the unbearable lightness of being" (1988) to recent films, such as the berlinale competition entry "camille claudel 1915" (2013) and her current productions "high life" and "doubles vies". For her role of hana in "the english patient" she was awarded an oscar for best supporting actress.
